Lyrica Mae Lynn

Lyrica was born in Coconut Grove, Florida in 1973. The first years of her life were spent exploring the natural beauty of her environment, and it became clear early on that her passion lay in the arts.

Lyrica moved to Vermont in 1991 and soon after was enrolled in the Fine Arts Program at Johnson State College where she focused her studies on painting and photography.  At JSC she spent many hours developing and printing in the darkroom, working only with black and white film. She experimented with different photography subjects, ranging from textures to nature to people. Her senior thesis was "Homelessness," and she spent many hours meeting and photographing homeless men and women in Vermont, Boston and Miami. She was awarded the Steven Snyder Photography Scholarship in the Spring of 1995, and in 1996 she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art (Studio Arts).

Since graduating, Lyrica has continued to explore many different subjects and has also developed a love for digital color photography.  She finds joy and inspiration in photographing families, especially when given the chance to document their journey over time - capturing milestones like engagements, weddings, pregnancies, newborns, and the growth of their family with a photojournalistic touch.  Lyrica currently lives in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She continues to be intrigued by the human spirit and the hidden beauty of the world which she strives to illuminate through her photographs.
